Alkalizing Super Juice

I enjoy starting my day with a great smoothie or juice. It's a sure way to give my body some added nutrients and I really love the glow and energy boost that comes with it. Earlier this week I made a carrot, beet and ginger juice that was so good. I knew I had to share it with you!

  • Carrots--Has beta-carotene, an antioxidant which plays a role in maintaining healthy skin.
  • Beets--Immune boosting properties, helps improve blood circulation and filled with essential nutrients.
  • Ginger--Anti-inflammatory properties, helps fight colds and nausea. I could go on and on about this one. I always make sure I have fresh ginger at home.

Recipe:
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 1 small beet diced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger
  • 1 cup of coconut water
*I do recommend that you strain it after blending, for a smoother taste.

Jamaica Meets Cuba

With no upcoming trips booked to Cuba or Jamaica, I felt the need to bring the flavor of both to my kitchen this week. So, I made Jerk chicken wings and paired it with black beans and rice. You know I'm all for fusion! Jerk seasoning is spicy and black beans are savory. The combination was downright yummy! This was my first time eating these two together and it won't be my last. So, if you want to spice things up in the kitchen you should try this one! You’re welcome in advance ; )

Favorite Facial Cleansers

Happy New Year! I wish you a prosperous 2016 filled with love, good health and adventure.
So, I often get asked what type of products I use on my skin. I figured I would start sharing some of my favorite skin care products right here on the blog. As far as facial cleansers, I am currently using two products. I like to keep things simple. For exfoliation, I use the Garnier Clean Invigorating Daily Scrub. The added peppermint is a really nice feeling. My skin feels cool and clean afterwards.

Left: Facial Scrub             Right: African Black Soap

The second product that I use daily is the Shea Moisture African Black Soap with Shea Butter. I have been using and loving Black Soap in general for years. It is super cleansing, lathers up really well and just a little goes a long way. It was my first time using Black Soap in a bar form. My skin feels really smooth after I use this. Super important that you follow up with a great moisturizer after using both of these products. My go to moisturizer is African Shea Butter.
